9. Bi Qiang Zi Bao? (彼强自保) - Take precautions against the opponent's strength

This proverb refers to mamori, meaning pre-emptive defence, rather than ukeru, meaning purely reactive defence. Ishida's joseki dictionary] describes B1 in the following diagram as mamori.
