Black first, what is the result?

KarlKnechtel: B1 threatens B3 at W2 which would make the second eye false; White must block. After B3, White can't connect with W4 at B5 because of shortage of liberties; and with any other response B5 captures, preventing the requisite two eyes. Even with the capture and connection of W4, B5 still destroys the eye, so White is dead.

A mistake, so White makes two eyes

The shortage of liberties threat which follows shortly after B1 at a is the only key to solve this one. If Black omits the exchange of a for b White is alive after W2.

Ko fight = half a solution

Moosky: The circled spot becomes an eye if W wins this ko fight, thus this solution fails. (B can push by playing B3 at W4, but W will connect at B3 to secure the eye at B1).

What about this?

If Black tries this B3, White captures at a, making x and y miai to ensure the eye at B1.
