I'm currently reading Tesuji The Book, and ran into this problem:

The answer given was:

Tesuji Answer

This problem was contained within a chapter that dealt with the capturing of cutting stones. The knight move tesuji was discussed, and I understood the examples given.

However, I don't see how W1 here captures the cutting stones. Or rather than capture them, is the aim simply to connect? I suspect the later, but no other problems in this chapter do that.

Please enlighten me.

(time passes)

The act of typing this up three times (Thanks IE!) has enlightened me...I think.

Something like this, and it seems like Black has nowhere to run to. I need to improve my reading ability. *sigh*
