Michael's report
Greetings to all! After a period of annoyance with the stupid Windows surfstations, I stole one of the ethernet connections to plug in my laptop, which also spares me the bother of paying for my connection here. ;)
- First day: lost against a 2k by resignation, beat a 5k by 10.5 points (my lead was actually much larger, I just kinda got bored....) So 1-1 now.
- Won my first game today, so 2-1 now.
- Well, that was fast. Only 27 minutes between the start of the game and my opponent's resignation... (at 90 minutes per player main time.) So, 3-1 now. :)
- Third day, and the first game was very complicated and exhausting. But, I won! Now why hasn't anyone told them British 1 kyus to resign after losing the game-deciding fight? So anyway, after that of course I was destined to get a really strong opponent, and indeed I was paired with a Swedish shodan... Well, according to him, I played a really good opening. It didn't help, though, since I fell behind by about 20 points in the middle game fighting, and duly resigned. So, 4-2 now!
- Having played 2-3 in the round robin, I didn't make it to the knockout round of the lightning tournament....

Lightning Tournament Results
Despite unlimited, freely placed full handicap, the final ended up being the two strongest players against one another, Radek Nechanicky and Emil Nijhuis. (Emil won a 17-stone game on his way...) The final was really hilarious, as Radek made a little misclick, filling his own eye to die in gote. But later, Emil made a miscalculation, and that group lived after all due to a cut... and Emil ended up winning by half a point. :)
