It is my understanding that big eyes are small in the corner only when both 1-2 points are open (or can be made so by correct placement of throw-ins). The player with the corner eye must waste a move on one of the open open ones to prevent the opponent from making an internal eye.
If this fact is true then it is worth putting on the main page because it is a handy way to see when big eyes are small in the corner. It also helps me count liberties in those cases because I just imagine one stone of each color on the 1-2 points and see how big the (now real) eye is in that case.
Anybody dispute this? Or am I correct?
