Bob McGuigan: He qualified for pro well within the age limit set by the Nihon Ki-in, so he's not really late.
Also, Yu Chang Hyuk hardly qualifies as a late starter. He also qualified for professional status at a normal age.
Fair points for them both. That said, I don't think they're entirely inappropriate--my perception is that while 18 is the age limit, it is still comparatively rare for there to be 9p pros, especially title-holders, who did not go professional until 18.
That said, my idea in writing this page is that any example given is temporary. If better examples can be given, they can replace the old ones. I personally have had a difficult time locating information on the subject in any systematic fashion, so I'd expect that my initial choices would require updating.
