This page bravely asserts that "big eye" is a Japanese word 大ナカデ and "small eye" is 小ナカデ but these words get no Google hits and I've never encountered them before. Has anyone seen them?
In "Igo Taikan" (A Survey of Igo), by Shimamura 8-dan and Noue (?) 5-dan, p. 105, in the nakate variant. The book was published about 50 years ago. Maybe the terms are dated, but I don't think they are obsolete yet.
