Again, what is the point of creating a SL page that is practically a copy-paste job directly from another site? As said before, this wiki is not here just to provide unlimited free webpage potential. It is about the accumulation and the creation of new Go knowledge. That is beside the fact that there was already a link to the source of the material on the Ray Tomes homepage. Delete this page now, too.
It ensures that the material is available within Sensei's Library for posterity.
PS: Do you have a sense of humour?
Again, I have a sense of humor. Again, the content is not the issue. Again, the location and the redundancy is the issue.
It is not redundancy to have material in Sensei's Library that also exists elsewhere - much of the material in SL does exist elsewhere.
You seem to object to the fact that a link to another copy is in my personal page. If I removed that would you be happy? As I already explained, material put in SL is for posterity whereas what is in my personal web site might not be.
You are reading me backwards. I want the page deleted and the external link restored, not hte other way around.
Since the original author of this article is willing to republish his article here, why not?
because it is just a plain copy with nothing to add... Copyright is not my beef here.
By fulminating against such a (in my opinion very harmless) contribution you potentially win the removal of two possibly redundant pages and potentially lose an enthusiastic contributor.
I will make the choice for myself: welcome Ray! I'm sure you have something to tell us about the history of Go in New Zealand too.
Precisely. Why the hostility against newcomers? What's the matter with some replication and redundancy?
I harbor ZERO hostility against Ray Tomes, neither based on his newcomer status or otherwise. my beef is with the redundancy of a page that doesn't have to exist.
I see Ray's contribution as harmless. To be enjoyed by those who like humour pages, to be ignored by those who don't. A great advantage of the wiki is that pages you don't agree with can easily be ignored, by not linking them from pages you like.
