PeterHB: p128, Dia. 34 - Are stones missing from the diagram? (2007-06-08 14:47) [#3432]

The text says: "Black has no severe attack after 10 in the Figure."

There are no W7,B8,W9, or B10. in the figure.

It is also not clear to me how black continues the attack. Are there more stones in a different edition? Mine is "Third printing September 2001".

Is it referring to Reference Figure 20 on the previous page?

I don't think so. I think the comment refers to Dia.34 on the same page.

Bob McGuigan: On other pages, the word "Figure" is used to refer to Reference Figures, the diagrams are called just diagrams. This pattern of talking about reference figures in the text for diagrams occurs elsewhere. Note also that this diagram is called supplement which means it is adding to the discussion of the reference figure. The diagram is explaining why White cannot tenuki after B2 whereas in the sequence in the reference figure Black has no strong attack after the sequence up to W10.
