Bob McGuigan: On other pages, the word "Figure" is used to refer to Reference Figures, the diagrams are called just diagrams. This pattern of talking about reference figures in the text for diagrams occurs elsewhere. Note also that this diagram is called supplement which means it is adding to the discussion of the reference figure. The diagram is explaining why White cannot tenuki after whereas in the sequence in the reference figure Black has no strong attack after the sequence up to
