Take away the fire from under the cauldron

A possible co-strategy of BoltTheDoorToCatchTheThief, 'take away the fire from under the cauldron' could have two meanings I can think of.
The first is when killing groups. You want to take away their life by taking away eyespace. This could be done with a monkey jump or knight's move jump (small monkey jump). It could be done with a tesuji.
When you take away the fire from the group it must jump out to survive. So please see Bolt the door to catch the thief too.
A more psychological meaning could be, if your opponent has a strong attack going, find a way to defuse the attack as quickly and simply as possible, forcing him to change his plan. He might slip up.
Demetria To add a little, It seems to me that in order to remove the fire one should remove the fuel. If you can find the source or cause of the fire then you can thwart your opponent's plans.
VanTheMan?: Leaving aside the timeline problems, isn't the problem referring to CGT? If you have an explosively hot position, cool it down. Positive simplification as it were?
