Takao Matsuda was a long time United States Go champion who won the US Open in 1959, 1962-1966, 1968 and 1970-1975. Matsuda is his family name.
Takao Matsuda was the author of The Go Letter, one of the few sources of Go material in English for people who learnt to play in the 1960s and early 1970s. Takao Matsuda ran the Matsuda Go Studio at 90 Bedford Street in New York City during the 1960's. The studio was open from five days a week (closed on Monday and Thursday) from 7:30PM till 12:30AM.
