Thia page is designed to be a landing point for anyone searching for one of the many opponents of Shusaku who are now obscure, sometimes extremely so, at least in Western sources.
The idea is to make all the listed names aliases of this page.
- Itagaki Chuzo, 2d. Played once vs S. in 1839.
- Hori Risaburo, 3d. Played once vs S. in 1839.
- Imai Hanshichi, 3d. Played once vs S. in 1840.
- Ishikawa Otojiro, 2d. Played twice vs S. in 1842.
- Shiraki Sukeemon, 3d. Played once vs S. in 1842 and twice in 1851.
- Yasuda Kinzaburo, 3d. Played once vs S. in 1842 and once in 1857. He might have some connection to Shusaku, since both had the name Yasuda.
- Yamamoto Kinnosuke, 3d. Played once vs S. in 1843.
- Kato Seitetsu, 3d. Played once vs S. in 1843.
- Sanai Tokujiro, 4d. Played 10x vs S. between 1843 and 1845.
- Ito Tokubee, 5d. Played 13x vs S. between 1844 and 1846.
- Ogura Takami. Played once vs S. in 1844.

- Mikami Gozan, 3d. Played once vs S. in 1857. Noted for the appearance of a 4-4 point low approach tsukenobi hamete in his 1852 game against Genan Inseki.
- Kimura Genboku. Played once vs S. in 1857.
- Kajikawa Shurei, 3d. Played 9x vs S. in 1857. Played a jubango against Shuho in 1859, narrowly losing by 4-1-5.
- Yamana Eiki, 4d. Played once vs S. in 1858.
- Ninomiya Kaizo, 4d. Played once vs S. in 1859.
- Mukai Shoso. Played once vs S. in 1862.
