RTG Problem 27 / Solution

Sub-page of RTGProblem27

W1 occupies the vital 1-2 point, then W3 pushes. After W5, Black finds that he is unable to prevent White from connecting the W5 stone outside due to shortage of liberties.

Variation (W7 at W5, B8 at W3)

If B2 makes a tiger shape, then W3, W5 and W7 kills.

Variation (B8 at W3)

Connecting Black to attempt miai at W7 and W9 results in a squeeze.

No, B8 at W9 lives. If White captures at W3, Black recaptures. Instead, extend as above:

W7 is a snapback

If B6 captures, W7 at W3 maintains the situation. If B7, then W6 connects.

Variation B4 at D18

a and c are miai.

If B6 at a then W7 at c.

If B6 at c then W7 at a.

Variation B4 at D18

b and d are miai.

If B6 at b then W7 at d.

If B6 at d then W7 at b.
