Krzysztof Grabowski

    Keywords: People

Krzysztof Grabowski is co-organizer of the first International Go tournament in Wroclaw in 1979. Next, he moved to Warsaw and started the Polish ratinglist - also known as 'Grabolka', after his nick Grabol - from which he resigned after over 30 years on January 1, 2010. Keeping records by hand, his stash of sheets adds up to 30 cm, while he fully filled 7 notebooks - in Polish: 'notes Grabolka', which explains the name of the ratinglist.

He was co-founder of the Polish Go Assiociation (PGA) in 1983 and elected President in 1985, from which he resigned in 1993. August 1989 he was captain of the European team at the World Youth Championships in Singapore. Since 2000 he is member of ratingcommission of the EGF. His nicest memories are from the Letnia Szkola Go, especially the pair-go events. He is most proud of the official 3-dan diploma of the Kansai Kiin, which he got in October 1990. It was signed by their three most prominent members: Hashimoto Utaro, Hashimoto Shoji and Sekiyama Toshio, all 9P. He framed it and it still decorates his living room. In 2001 he became honorary member of the PGA - the third, after Janusz Kraszek 6d (European Champion, Edinburgh 1993) and Tozawa Akinobu 9P.
