Kishimoto Saichiro

岸本左一郎 (1822-1858) Honinbo pupil, 6 dan in 1854.

Uchigaki Suekichi and Iwata Uichiro were his pupils.

A book Shintei Katsugo Shinpyo Suji to katachi (新訂活碁新評 筋と形) by Hasegawa Akira from 1956 is based on a classic work of Kishimoto, Katsugo Shinpyo. Hasegawa later dropped the original title and Kishimoto's name from the book.

John Fairbairn Not only this. The Fujisawa tesuji dictionary is also heavily indebted to it. It is Katsugo Shinpyo (Katsugo Shinpyou) of 1848. I haven't seen the original, but judging by the examples in Fujisawa it deserves its reputation.
