Kin En
金 艶, b. 1964-12-15
Female Nihon Ki-in professional 4-dan.
Kin En was born in Shanghai. She learned Go aged 9, because this was a compulsory subject for the brightest students. She was a student of Chinese amateur Qiu Bairui. She Graduated from Shanghai University of Science and Technology.
Kin came to Japan aged 23 in 1989 and won the All Japan Women's Amateur Championship. Then she studied to become a professional, and achieved professional shodan in 1992. then she became 2-dan in 2012, 3-dan in 2013, and 4-dan in 2013.
Personal life
When she was 40, she became the mother of Jo Bun'en, now a female professional 2-dan. She played a lot less when she was raising her daughter.
Kin lost the only official game she has played against her daughter on 2024-12-16, 44th Female Honinbo preliminary. This was the day after her 60th birthday that they celebrated together.
Kin speaks Shanghainese, Mandarin, and Japanese.
