Kato Chie
Kato Chie 加藤 千笑 (b. 2001-09-13) is a Japanese female professional 3-dan Nihon Ki-in).

Early life
Kato Chie's given name Chie (千笑) means “A thousand smiles”, from 千 (Chi) = Thousand and 笑 (E or Warai) = smile, laughter. The same characters in Chinese have the same meaning but are pronounced Qiānxiào.
Kato Chie is probably the strongest female disabled player, being confined to a wheelchair from congenital incurable osteogenesis imperfecta, a disease that makes bones break very easily.

Go career
Kato was a pupil of Hane Naoki 9p.
In 2021, she reached the semifinals of the Tachiaoi Cup, but lost in the semifinals to Ueno Asami.
The same year, in the Female Kisei challengers, she beat Ueno Risa, Fujisawa Rina (her first loss of the year), and Tsukuda Akiko, but lost to Suzuki Ayumi in the finals.
In 2022, she become a challengers' finalist in the 41st Female Honinbo by beating Nyu Eiko and Yoshida Mika. But she lost in the semifinals to Ueno Asami.
On the Women's Rating List of 2024-01-01, Kato was ranked #10 in Japan, #72 in world.
She plays as cocoa15 on Fox.
