Jeon Yu-jin

   

Jeon Yujin (or Yoojin; Hangul: 전유진; Hanja: 田有珍, b. 10 Feb 1992 in Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do) is a Korean female professional 1 dan. She became a professional quite late in life when she was 32, the result of 10 years of persistent trying. When she finally became a pro, [ext] she said:

I had many opportunities to join the team since 10 years ago, but I was frustrated because I missed those opportunities. I am so happy to have joined the team like this, and I will show you my sincere side as I joined at a late age.

Choi Min-seo (f) and Lee Woo-joo became pros at the same entrance competition.

Family

Jeon is the second daughter among Jeon Jae-ho and Bin Hye-jin's one son and two daughters. Her favorite player is female 9p Kim Hye-min.

Not to be confused with younger but higher-ranked Korean female pro, Jeong Yu-jin 4p.

Early Go career

Jeon had a good career as an amateur. She won the Harim Cup National Amateur Women's Go Championship (or Amateur Women’s Kuksu) three times: [ext] the 37th and 39th, then 9 years later aged 30, the 48th (in 2023). In the final, Jeon beat the future young professional Lee Na-hyun.
