European Ing memorial
The European Ing Memorial was an invitational tournament for top European players and strong Asian players living in Europe. Participants competed for the honor, but also for a large prize (more than $ 10,000 in 2007). Every other year, the tournament took place in the EGCC in Amstelveen. In the between years, it was organized in a different European country.
In 1990 this tournament was organized for the first time under the name "Ing Cup". After the death of the namesake and sponsor Ing Chang-Ki in August 1997, the name was changed to "Ing Chang-Ki Memorial Tournament", later European Ing Memorial. The 20th edition in 2009 was the last edition because of dwindling financial resources of the Ing Foundation.
