Dr. Robert Smith
Keywords: Humour
Dr. Robert Smith was a 9 kyu professional go playing master. He took on many apprentices, and was known never to have been defeated in his professional career by any player weaker than 10 kyu.
Dr. Robert Smith had a hard childhood, his family was poor, but through his incredible go-playing skill, Dr. Smith was able to make money for his family. Dr. Smith would simply set up a goban on the streets of New York in the early 1900s and play amazing moves. Onlookers were so amazed by the moves (even though they didn't actually know what go was or care) that they would shower him with gold doubloons.
Dr. Smith died in 1954, at the age of 143. His professional record was 2-568, the best of any 9 kyu professional in history.
