DGS-Shogun

    Keywords: Tournament, Online Go

A short lived attempt in the winter and spring of 2003 to bring tournament go to the Dragon Go Server. Strictly unofficial, it featured three tournaments:

  • I SHOGUN--a knockout 19x19 tournament. Fifty players signed up, making it DGS-Shogun's most popular tournament by far. Thanks to DGS member Gary Williams, the tournament went on a little while longer. [ext] Results
  • I SAMURAI--a 9x9 tournament with about 20 players. To the best of my knowledge, no games were ever played.
  • DGS-Shogun Team Tourney--three teams with five(?) players apiece. The only tournament that was finished. Result forgotten. Any beneolovent players who remember, please messsage me (on my SL page).

DGS-Shogun failed because of several reasons: the lack of enthusiasm from both players and the administrator, long time limits and odd pairings (both of which produced dull games). My health then failed, and that was that.

Thanks for the memories, everyone.
