In addition, two professional tournaments using the 13x13 board were held in Japan, in 2014 and 2016. Both used cloud funding to raise money for the tournament.

Cloud Funding 13x13 Selected Pro Tournament (2014)

(クラウドファンディング13路盤選抜プロトーナメント戦) It was contested as an 8-player single elimination. Participants were selected by voting by supporters of the funding, whose target was JPY 3,000,000. Time control was 30 sec/move plus 10 x 1 min (NHK Cup system). 6.5 point komi was used. Ishida Yoshio won at the age of 66, beating Takao Shinji in the final.

13x13 Pro-am Tournament (2016)

(13路盤プロアマトーナメント) Expanded to 16-players, including two amateurs. The funding made the target of JPY 3,500,000. Ishida won again, beating Kono Rin in the final. Ishida's territory-oriented style and precise calculation seem to fit well to the smaller board. On the other hand, Takemiya Masaki was eliminated in the second round; 13x13 board could not accommodate his cosmic style.
