The Count: If a game is described as player A vs. player B, does this mean that player A is White? And if so, does this take the idea of White being the challenger? Or perhaps the stronger player?
The quick answer is that without more information there is no way to tell. On SL, usually the player of the white stones is listed first. In other places (e.g. in the AGA e-journal) the player of the black stones is listed first. There is no standard convention about this as far as I know. --Bob McGuigan
