I have the new Samsung Blackjack with Windows Mobile 5.0. I would like to be able to play Go on IGS and other servers on my device. I was trying to follow the steps on http://mitglied.lycos.de/remotegnugo/ but can not get GoSuite to work. I get the Error "GoSuite.exe NotSupportedException? MISC::HandleAr?+0x4a OpenFileDialog?::.ctor+0x15 MainForm?::InitializeComponent?+0x1b MainForm?::.ctor0x98 SplasForm?::.ctor+0xb SplashForm?::Main+0x1a". Has anyone been able to get around this or is a newer version going to be released? Maybe someone knows another way I can play Go against others via the internet on my device. Thank you all very much!
AshleyF: That looks like you're trying to run the Pocket PC version. The Blackjack is a Smartphone and doesn't support the OpenFileDialog?. That's what it's complaining about. The Smartphone build should at least run. Although, it doesn't correctly support the high res landscape screen on the Blackjack. Sorry about that. Peter and I are working on it. In fact, we each just took a day off from work to get together and merge our code. Hopefully there will be a new batch of updates coming...
AshleyF: Sorry, connecting to IGS isn't (yet) a feature of GoSuite at all.
Oh, it looks as though a modified version of GoSuite is available at http://mitglied.lycos.de/remotegnugo/. I have emailed this person to see about getting a CAB file for this version.
Thanks
AshleyF: The modified version was made to connect to a remote GTP engine running on a desktop machine (such as GnuGo) over TCP/IP. I suppose you may be able to play as a Bot on IGS or KGS through a GTP proxy but I don't believe that was the purpose... Strange thing to do... :-) You wouldn't ba able to chat or deliberately start matches, etc. However, a true IGS client will eventually make its way into GoSuite...
