While I understand the point you're trying to make, in the diagram "Using thickness, part 2", it's not really clear (and especially wouldn't be for a beginner) why is possible now, but 'wouldn't' be possible without the wall at the top of the board. (And if there isn't this distinction to be made - i.e. if it would or wouldn't work regardless - then the value of the wall simply isn't illustrated.)

is possible, even without the wall at the top. sandwiches the marked weak white group against the black group on the lefthand side.
I think I'm just trying to show that it's wrong to just try and make territory with the wall. I'll have to think about this more.
