But what castles, exactly ? Are they still up and built ? or did they get destroyed ? what are or were the names of those castles ?

According to John Power in Invincible, pages 5 and 6, the first castle game was played at Sumpu Castle in Shizuoka (![[ext]](images/extlink.gif)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunpu_Castle) some time around 1605. From 1628 the games were played in Edo Castle ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edo_Castle). With the Meiji restoration, around 1860, the institution of the castle games was abandoned.
