What made the now removed example attractive to me, was that it shows something I believe is a crucial part of Furikawari. Often the turning point is a move that would end as a very good kikashi if answered (the move in example 3) and is a way to resist it by means of initiating an exchange. I don't find this expressed on the page, but in game reviews I regularly read phrases about exchanges like "and now it is inevitable", "otherwise ... would have been forced".
