I've just tried the new position search a few times. Looks like it works quite well. I also noted the new links under each diagram to do a quick search. A useful feature. But I find the binocular picture sticks too the diagram title a bit. Perhaps I just have to get used to it, but I'd prefer it if the binoculars were separated from the title. Maybe always align them to the right?

This made my day! Thank you very very much...

Just one question, since the old full board search had less requirements (afair) is there any possibility to keep the old full board search for backward compatibility? Or do I just misremember.

ArnoHollosi: Re: requirements (2009-04-23 08:19) [#5953]

The old fullboard search had the same requirements: a Javascript enabled browser with DOM level 2 capabilities (see history of the FindPositionPage to verify for yourself.) The reason for this requirement is the Javascript code for editing the board position. It is not needed for the search itself.

So actually, you can click on the spyglass icon and get a search result even with Javascript disabled. But you cannot edit the board or click "Search" or "Next hits" on the position search page.

As you can edit diagrams on pages and put wildcards there too, you can even search without Javascript (albeit a little bit awkward): edit diagram, save page, click on the spyglass, edit again for another search, ...

Do you experience any problems with editing?

Ah, ok. Than my request is obsolete. I've seen no problems so far.

Thanks Arno for the new feature! It makes finding problems very easy.

Well, I have always felt that there are many duplicate or near-duplicate problems in those classical problem collections. A quick run through the newly posted Gokyo Seimyo series using this new tool showed about twenty duplicates or near-duplicates, and I think there are more than that.
