Strategy vs. Tactics

This article offers only glimpses of Go strategy with a wealth of tactics.

To win a war, for example, there are many strategies you can employ: cut off food supply, force the armies to retreat into a defensive position by attacking their homeland, destroy enemy war making factories, undermine enemy leadership, divide and conquer, let the enemy make the first move, sacrifice small for large, and so forth.

Tactics are deployed to accomplish the strategic goal. Cutting off the food supply could mean anything from bombing food factories to burning wheat fields to destroying bridges to killing their chefs. The strategic goal remains the same: eliminate the food and the army will starve.
