dino1019: New term "Group safety level" and its strategic application (2023-02-02 05:23) [#12198]

Hi all,

I am new to this wiki editing, so I am not sure how to do it properly.

In the quoted post below, I have proposed a term: "Group safety level":

[ext] https://www.facebook.com/groups/go.igo.weiqi.baduk/posts/10160959342256514/

and its strategic (theorectical) application, which I think could be very useful for learners. I see there are existing concepts such as "temperature" and "urgency", etc., which serve similar purposes, but I am wondering if my new term can better explain how to choose the next move in a game, I hope teachers and seasoned players can give your comments and help improve it and make it more complete, consistent and conherent with all established go theories.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Dino,

I think it's a useful term, and I didn't see anything already in SL that talked about it - but I may well have missed something. So I made a few edits to the page Thickness, and created a stub for Group safety level based on your post on Facebook. It could be good to give the Chinese equivalent for "Group safety level" if there is one...? Regards

Sure, for "Group safety level", it's "棋塊安全程度"; my teacher (Go Go Sensei, a 7-d teacher based in Taiwan, where I am based as well) uses "Group status" or "棋子狀態", which is his original idea, and I am trying to theorize it. Note that I am using "Traditional Chinese" characters, which have one-to-one correspondence with "Simplified Chinese" characters used in China.
