My understanding was that Sensei's is an English language wiki. All non-English material should have a translation supplied. The use of non-English would normally be restricted to Go terms, players' names, and Book and film titles. Discussion, and explanation, should be in the English language.
Is my understanding correct? Harry F?
There is a certain number of german pages here as well. It doesn't hurt...
Tapir -- thanks. On other wikis, I have seen concern that all material be adequately monitored for suitability of the material. Imagine some vindictive posters posting completely unsuitable, possibly illegal, material -- NOT so in this case, I am sure. Are we concerned about this potential problem? If so, do we believe that the monitoring is adequate? Harry F?
"Sensei's Library is a collaborative web site about and around the game of Go (also called Igo, Weiqi, and Baduk).
It is a repository, a discussion medium, it is the pot of GO(ld) at the end of the rainbow! SL is whatever you make of it."
From the Front Page... Where do you see the word "English" here? There are currently 16,000+ pages in SL. The idea that they have all been checked by the PC Thought Police is a (very sad) joke.
I'm not aware of any official policy on the matter. The tradition so far has been that people who want to write in other languages are perfectly welcome. I don't see anything wrong with it.
This site in general is a lot less restrictive than, for example, wikipedia. I like it this way.
Sorry, If I can't use Vietnamese for senseis's library then I will deleted it. I swear this page serve for Go, you can ask some Vietnamese.
Well, as you can see from the discussion above, that might not be necessary. (As far as I know, there are pages in Spanish and German as well, and a page that translates the KGS FAQ into Simplified Chinese.) It might be useful to give a brief description in English at the top, though, just in case people are confused. Something like "Note: this page is about an event held at a Vietnamese Go club" would be sufficient.
