Miyakawa Wataru (born 1975) is an amateur 6-dan who learned to play at age 9, reaching 4-dan at age 11 and became an insei from ages 12 to 14.
Miyakawa did not become a professional Go player. He subsequently studied musicology in France at Aix, and at the Marseille conservatoire. Member of the Marseille club.
He was the winner of the 1998 Ing Cup and the runner-up in the 1992, 1997 and 1998 European Championships. He was the winner at Barcelona in 2000 and 2001, and at Paris in 1996.
