Takeshi Obata

Takeshi Obata (小畑 健 Obata Takeshi, born February 11, 1969) is a Japanese mangaka. He generally works as the primary artist in collaboration with a primary writer.

His works include:

• Arabian Majin Bokentan Lamp Lamp with Susumu Sendo
• Ayatsuri Sakon
• Hikaru no Go with Yumi Hotta (writer) - supervised by Umezawa Yukari (5-dan)
• Death Note with Tsugumi Ohba

Trivia

• Obata's favorite shoes are worn by the protagonist of Hikaru no Go, Hikaru Shindo.
• Obata's favorite chair is also the favorite chair of another Hikaru no Go character, Seiji Ogata 9-dan.

The Knife Incident

On September 6th, 2006, Obata was arrested for illegal possession of a knife. The police found the knife in his car while he was being controlled for driving with the headlights off during the night. (Source: Mainichi news)
