Shan Sa (Beijing, 26/10/1972) is a French author and artist of Chinese origin.
She was born in a family of writers and has been publishing poems since childhood. At 14 she became the youngest member of the Academy of Writers in Beijing. After the evens at Tian'anmen she left her country to study philosophy and the history of art in Paris. In 1994 she was introduced to the painter Balthus and his wife Setsuko, who introduced her to the game of Go. This inspired her to write her novel la joueuse de go.
