Roberts vs Casey 6-13

    Keywords: Ongoing game
Moves 6

White answers black+circle at W6. He is rightly assuming, that this hits a weak spot, but W6 is too hasty. The game has a theme now: Will Black find a good moment to cut at a?

First chance

To begin with, he could cut immediately. White is separated into 3 stones whereas black is at least loosely connected to one group. This looks fine to me!

Alternative W8

After B7 White might even turn back to defend at W8. W6 provides some aji to be used later.

The reader might consider the cut /defense at W8 (a in the initial diagram) for any of the next moves himself!

Moves 6-10

Just a word about B9: W6, B7 and W8 are setting up a staircase. Useful ideas might be found there, if Black wants to answer locally. B9 is a One-Two-Three error: forcing his opponent to a necessary move.

Moves 11-13

With B3 (move 13) the game comes to a pause: White has successfully invaded in sente. He can now defend at a and the game would be almost over.
