Ralf Gering

Ralf Gering is a German amateur player and inventor of Magnetic Go

He had the idea in the summer of 1988 on a visit in Bonn and the game was described in a short article in the "Deutsche Go-Zeitung (DGoZ)", which was however changed without his approval on some important aspects, such as the name. See the naming section in the article.

He presumably showed the game at the Go Congress in Hamburg, which might have contributed to its success. At this time he was a 2-kyu in Go and studied Geology at Tübingen University, Germany.
