History of the club

The first time that a loose group of players regularly met together in Montreal was at McGill University between 1952-1955.

The first iteration of the McGill Go Club was founded at McGill in 1988 and existed until 1990.

In 1991, the Montreal Go club moved to the McGill University, where it stayed until 2008, a period of 17 years.

The McGill Go Club was restarted in 2009 and was active until 2014.

In 2023, the club was again restarted, this time under the name of McGill Students' Go Club due to new regulations.
