tchan001 I would think that as a study, if white played the incorrect move at 1, then the study is showing how black should reply with 2.

tapir: I guess W1 isn't so incorrect since it is just another ko. though i m far from understanding all implications here.

Shouldn't it be sth. like this if it is just a study of carpenter's square?  

tapir: I mean if W1 kills black with one liberty, it will kill without liberty as well and would be well the standard solution to the carpenters square. Or did "standard solutions" change over time?
