Kyu Exercise 47 / Solution

Solution (8 at 3).

W1 makes an eye, and then the throw-in at W3 is important for reducing Black's liberties by one. After W9, White wins the capturing race.

Why 8 @ 3. Can't B force a ko because W can't approach?

Failure 1.

W3 forgot to make the required throw-in, B4 connects and Black wins the capturing race.

Failure 2 (4 at 2, 10 at marked stone).

W1 here doesn't form a bigger eye. Black wins the capturing race by one move.
