KyuExercise200/Solution

Sub-page of KyuExercise200

I've tried to cover it yesterday with some great help from the folks of the KTL, do you think it's reasonable?

Proposed Solution

[Diagram]

It seems that either of these (a or b) works (With an exactly identical following)

hnishy: Panda Sensei says a is the only move to win. Against White b, Black c, White d and Black e leads to ko.

[Diagram]

One liberty ahead

Reverts to the previous diagram

Some fail paths

Fail 1 - A more "relaxed" approach

[Diagram]

The need for an extra move against the eye here loses the semeai

Fail 2

[Diagram]

Approach ko for B

[Diagram]
W7 mistake

Big eye, too many libs

[Diagram]
W3 mistake

Too easy a ko

[Diagram]
B4 mistake

Fail 3

[Diagram]

Approach ko for B

[Diagram]
B2 mistake

W seems to live easily like this

Fail 4

[Diagram]
ressitance 1

ko again

[Diagram]
W5 mistake

B will get either a or b here and it's either lack of liberties for W or a big eye and a lost semeai

[Diagram]
B4 mistake

After W5 B hasn't got enough liberties to fight

[Diagram]
ressitance 2

ko again

[Diagram]
B4 mistake

Black is captured

[Diagram]
ressitance 3 (B2's a mistake)

hard ko

[Diagram]
Reason for W3

If W takes a or b B will take c (Obviously W can't take c else B will take d)

Fail 5

[Diagram]

I'll either expand on it later or hopefully somebody else will? ;)

Fail 6

[Diagram]

That ko again

[Diagram]
W3 mistake

Fail 7

[Diagram]

A good (direct) ko for B

[Diagram]
B2 mistake
