Japan China Meijin Playoff

(日中名人戦/中日名人対抗賽) 3-game Playoff match between Japanese Meijin and its namesake Chinese Mingren, first held in 1988. Japan and China alternately hosted the match. Discontinued after the 7th edition in 1994.

In addition, a double round-robin tournament between Meijin, Mingren and Korean Kuksu was held in 1996 as the World Go Strongest tournament (世界囲碁最強戦).
