Hola! I'm Jana! I first heard of Go a couple years ago when I read the Hikaru No Go series. I thought it was crazy how intense the characters got over this weird board game, and thought it was even crazier how I wanted to keep reading even though I didn't know what the game was about. Last summer (2011) I got a Go app on my phone, and fiddled around till I figured out the basic rules. Soon, I realized Go had strategy that was way more complex than I thought. After a year of floundering around on goproblems.com, reading about it and playing against the computer, I finally went to a Cleveland Go club meeting to meet some other people that knew of Go's existance. That's where I met Scott, who I'm currently taking lessons from. Since I've been taking lessons, Go's finally coming together for me.
