The stones are dead. Black doesn't need to play here right away. Because the white stones on the first line aren't connected, white must connect them to complete an eye:

After W1, if black plays elsewhere white will play W3, and the stones are alive with two eyes.

So after W1, black throws in a stone with B2. After W captures with W3...

Black can play B4 later and capture the marked stone. This situation is the same as Intro Exercise 3, where black waits to start the ko.
