In trouble

In commentaries on problems we often read that one side is in (big) trouble, usually in a particular area. This seems to mean that that side has a very poor result indeed, and that their stones are in severe danger of dying, but does not explicitly state that they are dead.

For example, in a problem in Guo Juan’s Internet Go School, the comment on this final position is “White is in big trouble”:

Solution: White is in big trouble
