JG Hi Geoff, perhaps we'll meet or even play at the 2013 Bar-Low tournament. I have a query about the pairing algorithm. I entered last weekend's Birmingham tournament at 4 kyu. I lost to my first opponent (another 4-kyu), beat the second (a 5-kyu) and was then paired with a 2-kyu. The last pairing may have happened because the algorithm gave too much weight (in my opinion) to avoiding pairing players from the same club. It would actually be interesting for me to play someone from my local club under the different conditions, time limits and rule-set used in BGA tournaments. (I don't know whether GoDraw was actually used at Birmingham.)
