Deferred Chinese

Deferred Chinese opening

The Deferred Chinese opening sees Black opting to make the B5 W6 exchange before completing the normal set up of B1 B3 B7. This opening has gained in popularity recently.

Question to be answered - What is the key idea behind first playing 5?

Standard continuation

This is one of the most popular continuations. A complex position is created on the lower side. White can choose between a and b. The move of c is also interesting for Black, because it threatens to invade the corner.
