axd: I wonder if someone is not trying to get credits for "inventing" a game which is no more than a long known alternative of Go, using a toroidal playing space. If this is the only difference with classical Go, I don't see why someone should give it a special name and claim it as a new game.
On slide 2 of http://www.daoqigame.com/en/daoqi/articles/introduction.htm one can read that the game was invented by Qibin Xu and Guoliang Cao; I think these people should check out the Internet before making such claims. But they can take credit for writing a program that handles a toroidal Go space. I think that toroidal playing spaces have a bright future in computer supported (Go) gaming.
But I remember having read somewhere that toroidal Go games had been playd before, but were far less interesting (contrary to what is stated on Toroidal Board on Unusual Gobans, btw).
