Biographie

André Moussa was born on July 29, 1954. He entered the École normale supérieure in 1974, then taught physics and chemistry as an associate professor, in particular at the Darius Milhaud high school.

He won the French Go Championships for the first time in 1976 after Patrick Mérissert-Coffinières decided to leave go shortly after his victory at the European Championships, a title that Moussa would hold until 1983. He won the bronze medal at the European Championships in 1980 in Mali Lošinj and then in 1982 in Copenhagen. In 1984 he won the Amsterdam Go Tournament but was beaten in the final of the French Go Championship by Yan, a Korean 5 Dan player living in France, then in 1985 by Frédéric Donzet, a young 20-year-old player. However, he won the London Go Tournament in 19853. He also participated in the London Open Lightning, which he won twice, first in the 1983-84 championship and then in the 1985-864 championship.

Second in the Brussels Go Tournament in 1986, André Moussa managed to regain his title of French champion that year, a title he would hold until 1992. He would only lose it in the final in 1993 against Farid Ben Malek, who had returned from Japan where he had spent a year and a half as an insei (student training to become a professional).

Since the 2000s, he has turned to bridge. He works in a club, teaches and organizes matches.
