Hashimoto's play

B1 here is Hashimoto Shoji's move from 1975.

Hashimoto's play - continuation

Play will usually continue like this, with Black sacrificing a stone in order to connect with his pincer stone. Though Black allows White a Ponnuki, the marked White stone is somewhat redundant.

Alternate continuation

Instead of B1 at W6, connecting with B1 here did occur in a game Sun Yiguo-Li Chunhui? (amateurs in the Wanbao Tournament) 1995-01-13, with these plays to follow.
