I have banned Frank de Groot from SL today.
This means, I have removed any and all discussion or mentioning of Frank de Groot and his software Moyo Go Studio[1]. Also, I have temporarily blacklisted the words "MoyoGo" and "de Groot". Ordinary users can no longer add them in their edits[2]. Furthermore, the IP addresses used by Frank de Groot have been temporarily banned from editing.
This ban is a major turning point for SL. Never before have I removed Go related content. I know this is a very controversial move and some of you may think that I have no right to do so. My motivations are as follows:
My main goal is to provide a valuable Go resource to the community. While I can withstand personal threats, I am very sensitive when making threats against the site. If someone threatens this site or disrupts its service, I don't want to reward them with links and references on the site.
I'd like to come to an agreed policy on how to behave in future cases and invite you to come up with ideas on how to formulate such a policy.
You are free to discuss my decision, but be warned that if it degenerates into a flamewar I will not hesitate to delete postings. So think twice before posting.
[1] My edits can be seen in RecentChanges when minor edits are enabled ("FRC" mode.) The removed content was saved. If you would like to have a copy (e.g. because I removed your text), then contact me by email.
[2] Don't try creative spelling to circumvent the filters. I will delete your edits.
